The Data Rescue Center was founded in 2009 by Prosoft Engineering Inc, a firm with two generations of experience in data recovery under its belt. Prosoft Engineering began manufacturing much-needed hard drive recovery software back in 2000 to help recover memories, work information or any other type of files you may have lost. Since that time they have perfected this data-saving software and even opened a data rescue center in Northern California to aid in the more difficult hard drive recoveries. The primary goal of this company is to ensure that you get all of your lost information back without breaking the bank.

The Data Rescue Center has a new hard drive recovery facility that open January 2011 to aid in the ever-changing recovery process. This new facility uses leading-edge technology and tools to ensure that every scrap of data is recovered every time. Along with the new facility come advanced security measures to guarantee that your information is kept out of prying hands. The combination of new technologies and years of experience made it easy for us to give The Data Rescue Center our TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award.

Recovery Effectiveness:

Knowing that the data on your formatted hard drive, water-damaged camera or other media device can be recovered gives a sense of relief. Recovery effectiveness is one of the most important things to consider before making any final decisions on a hard drive recovery service. The Data Rescue Center has one of the highest success rates when it comes to recovering all of your data. Their new Class 100 clean room ensures that your hard drive will be protected during the recovery process. It is always good to remember that if your hard drive was in a fire or other disaster, there may be data that is impossible to locate and recover.

Service Plans:

The Data Rescue Center offers multiple service plans to get your data back to you in a timely manner if needed or simply get the job done and back to you when it is all recovered. Their standard service plan has a turnaround time of around 5 business days depending on how much data is recovered and the type of damage. If you lost photos from your wedding or have damaged the memory stick for your camera, this will be the best option.

If you own a company or have very important information stored on your computer or laptop and it gets, erased you will most likely want to consider their emergency recovery service. If you are located in near their office, they will actually come by and pick up your hard drive, but expedited shipping is also available. Turnaround time for this service is typically 48 hours, which is not quite as swift as some of the other hard drive recovery services we reviewed, but it is still very fast.

Ease of Use:

The Data Rescue Center has one of the easiest sites to use, and all shipping and contact information can be found within just a few minutes. You are able to get a quote over the phone, or you can email them about the details of your data loss. Like most services, there is no cost at this stage of the process and you’re given a lot of information about your hard drives status. One thing we found very helpful were the step-by-step instructions on how to package and ship you hard drive or other devices. This may seem unneeded, but if your hard drive is damaged even more during the shipping process you may never get your data back. Prosoft Engineering also offers do-it-yourself recovery software in case you feel comfortable restoring the information on your own.

Being able to get in contact with the hard drive recovery service you’re doing business with is a must. The Data Rescue Center understands this very well and offers a variety of ways to get in contact with the company. A phone number and email address are available for those who would like to talk to someone in the office. You can also read through their FAQs page to get answers to some of the most common questions about hard drive recovery. The Data Rescue Center truly shines when it comes to helping their customers out before, during and after the recovery process.

Speed:

This hard drive recovery service isn’t the fastest on the market when it comes to emergency recoveries, but they are right around the standard for basic recovery times. Variables like how much information needs to be recovered and how damaged the drive is will determine how fast it will be back in your possession. It is very common to wait a week for the standard service and one and a half business days for emergency recovery.

Data Security:

The security and privacy of your data is a primary focus at The Data Rescue Center. Their new facility uses a UL Listed Class 2 Vault to ensure that your data is never looked at by anyone but the person working on recovering your information. The facility also includes an extensive 24-hour security with 24 motion sensors, extensive employee background checks and card access to the building.

Summary:

The Data Rescue Center hard drive recovery service has only been around for a few years and has just built a state-of-the-art HQ in California. However, their parent company, Prosoft Engineering, has been around for over 20 years and knows the ins and outs of recovering lost data. If you are looking for a company that knows what they are doing and has the resources to recover all of your data, The Data Rescue Center is the place. Their site is very easy to use and getting a quote takes just a few minutes. As with most of the best hard drive recovery services, a No Data, No Charge policy ensures that you pay for the information they recover and nothing else.
